A composable storefront, deployable in 15 minutes.
An internal capability build: prove that a modern composable storefront could be stood up, end to end, fast enough to be worth standardising on.
THE SITUATION
The organisation wanted to know whether MACH architecture was real for them or just a slide. The brief was to build the reference implementation — not a demo, a deployable system others could copy.
WHAT I DID
- Architected and largely built it solo: commercetools, Contentful, Auth0, Algolia and a GraphQL layer stitched into a Next.js storefront.
- Automated the whole environment with Terraform so a fresh instance stood up in about 15 minutes.
- Kept the seams clean so each capability could be swapped without touching the rest.
- Documented it as a pattern, not a one-off, so teams could actually adopt it.
WHAT CHANGED
The POC became the internal reference for composable commerce — evidence that the architecture was viable, with a deploy story fast enough to change how teams thought about spinning up new brands.
“This is the first time composable felt like something we could actually operate.”
